Who we work with...
Our Licensees work with local and regional operators, as well as national commercial waste operators. These operators collect this waste from washrooms, hospitals, elderly nursing facilities and childcare nurseries and were some of the first to recognize the need to improve sustainability for themselves and their customers.
Baby & Childcare
Every day, childcare centers, nursery schools and private day nurseries purchase, use and dispose of thousands of disposable diapers. These wastes are often segregated by care givers and staff using dedicated diaper waste bins in the baby changing room and collected by specialist hygiene service companies who maintain and manage the external collection receptacles, logistics and disposal in a safe, clean and legally compliant way.
With Knowaste technology, this diaper waste can now be recycled.
For many childcare centres and nursery managers, increasing recycling is a top priority in any sustainability program. And in a highly competitive marketplace, recycling brings other benefits such as helping to retain and attract new families and staff.

Hospitals & Healthcare
Knowaste technology targets absorbent hygiene products which include adult incontinence pads, disposable diapers and feminine hygiene products. These wastes are generated across the healthcare sector and particularly in elderly, mental health and child care units, among patients and longer term residents and are typically classified as ‘offensive wastes whose collection and disposal is not subject to special requirements in order to prevent infection”.
Recycling with Knowaste technology helps healthcare waste and sustainability managers and their waste contractors in their quest to offer cost effective and more environmentally friendly solutions for offensive waste management. Much work is underway within the sector to drive efficiencies and sustainability and the recent work in the UK by the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) identifying opportunities (Freedom of Information Report on Waste Management) is just one example of this.
The RCN is not alone in highlighting that with increased identification and source segregation of offensive, non-infectious wastes within the sector, clinical waste incineration can be avoided. Compaction of these wastes can lead to a reduction in frequency and increase in volume of waste handled in a given consignment which serves to lower handling costs. And now with Knowaste, valuable materials are able to be recycled from these absorbent wastes and used in new product manufacturing.
Knowaste offers considerable carbon reduction benefits compared to landfill and incineration and our competitive gate fees make us an attractive solution to the usual disposal methods. With increased pressure on health services to reduce costs, Knowaste wants to be part of the solution.

Hygiene & Washroom
Everyday tons of feminine hygiene and disposable diaper waste is generated ‘away from home’ in retail, leisure and work washrooms. If you manage the washroom service contracts in your organization or are hygiene service providers looking for a competitive edge, you will be pleased to know that there is a more sustainable solution than merely disposal to landfill. Working with Knowaste, your comany can offer specialist waste treatment dedicated to recycling these absorbent hygiene product (AHP) wastes, diverting them from landfill and incineration and reclaiming valuable materials for re-use in new products
Nursing Homes
If you run one or several care homes, if you are an owner manager or are a facilities manager in a larger organization – whatever your size and business model, please contact your hygiene company to see if they can benefit from the Knowaste recycling option. The population in most countries is aging. People are living longer; baby boomers are retiring, and the fastest growing age group is over 80. In just 20 years, the Office of National Statistics forecast that the over 65 age group will increase by 50%. This means that the residential and nursing care sector is growing and with it the need to treat the wastes from these establishments in a more sustainable way.
Managers also recognize that their environmental credentials are likely to be noticed by their residents and their families and can be part of the decision making for some.
