Launching nappy recycling could be closer than you think
Knowaste has recently opened a plant in the West Midlands to recycle all our absorbent hygiene product (AHP) wastes – disposable nappies/diapers, adult incontinence and feminine hygiene products – and reclaim their plastics and fibres.
With a stronghold in commercial AHP waste treatment from the healthcare and hygiene sectors and with plans to expand rapidly to 5 more plants across the UK, we are now actively looking to offer the same landfill diversion opportunity, carbon savings and recycling benefits to the public sector.
In the domestic waste sector disposable absorbent wastes can account for up to 10% of the kerbside residual bin - in households with children disposable nappies/diapers can represent the bulk of rubbish thrown out weekly or fortnightly.
We know that adding new recycling services to your existing scheme needs to be carefully evaluated and assessed for value-for-money and environmental benefit. Is the ‘Weekly Collection Support Scheme’ a golden opportunity for you, or your waste partnership, to take the next step in weekly kerbside recycling?
Please contact Knowaste today to discuss delivering nappy/diaper and other absorbent wastes recycling to your residents. And, with our practical approach and know-how, we welcome the opportunity to help now with your DCLG bid (the EOI deadline is March 16th).
